Inserts feature positive rake cutting geometry.

November 15, 2006 - Suited for plunge milling and high feed milling applications, CoroMill 210 Inserts are optimized for cutting titanium, HRSA, tool steel, and stainless steel. Ten degree entering angle allows for extreme feed rates at small axial depths of cut when face milling, and high radial depths of cut when plunge cutting in rough operations. Design of cutter body allows for use of screws with coolant holes to provide through-the-tool coolant supply to each pocket.

New Sandvik Coromant Inserts Raise Efficiency in High Feed Face Milling and Plunge Milling

Innovative insert geometry boosts cutting performance

Fair Lawn, New Jersey, November 13, 2006 - Sandvik Coromant has recently added a new, positive rake cutting geometry insert to its CoroMill 210 line of milling tools. The new sharper and lighter cutting geometry possesses a cutting edge, which allows for superior performance and productivity in plunge milling and high feed milling applications.

The new insert improves cutting performance across a variety of materials, including titanium, HRSA, tool steel and stainless steel. In addition to productivity gains, the insert provides longer tool life and produces a smoother cutting action. Machining noise is reduced substantially, as is power consumption.

The CoroMill 210's unique design causes it to excel in productive plunge milling and high feed face milling. The tool's 10-degree entering angle allows for extreme feed rates at small axial depths of cut when face milling. The design also allows for high radial depths of cut when plunge cutting in rough operations.

In high feed face milling, the CoroMill 210 removes extremely high chip volumes at rates far above those with traditional face mills. The tool's plunge milling capabilities provide a highly efficient means of removing large amounts of metal in the axial direction, such as when milling deep cavities or externally along deep shoulders.

The design of the CoroMill 210 cutter body allows for the use of screws with coolant holes to provide through-the-tool coolant supply to each pocket. This ensures the best possible chip evacuation and cutting performance, even in difficult-to-machine materials.
