Tooling Line addresses all job shop needs.

July 21, 2005 - KennaUniversal tooling includes 6 grades designed to perform turning (KU10T, KU25T, and KU30T), milling (KUC20M and KUC30M), and holemaking (KU40D) applications across various workpiece materials. Suited for contract manufacturers and job shops, products help reduce inventory and increase application flexibility. New Tooling Line from Kennametal Targets Job Shops

Versatile KennaUniversal tooling ups productivity, reduces inventory, eases selection, and covers numerous applications

(LATROBE, PA) - Kennametal is targeting the needs of contract manufacturers and job shops with the release of its new line, KennaUniversal. Six new grades are designed to perform turning, milling, and holemaking applications across a variety of workpiece materials. The results are greatly improved throughput, cycle times, and production efficiencies for shops where achieving such benefits is often a survival issue.

"Most often job shops must machine and deliver a variety of parts in small- to medium-sized lots over a variety of materials with fast turnaround, "says Frank Wei, KennaUniversal product manager. "Making money often requires getting jobs on and off their equipment as fast as possible with a minimum of tooling changes and setups, all without retreating a single inch on product quality. We believe this is the first global tooling line targeting this market specifically to deliver the goals of versatility, performance, and simplicity."

The new grades will be available both direct from Kennametal and through authorized local distributors and will include the following: KU10T, KU25T, KU30T, KUC20M, KUC30M, and KU40D. For turning applications, grades KU10T, KU25T, and KU30T represent a complete product range for all general lathe applications, including turning, boring, grooving, threading and cutoff. For milling, KennaUniversal grades KUC20M and KUC30M work together with the KSSM Face-Milling platform where a single insert style works in face, slotting, or helical cutters. For holemaking, KennaUniversal grade KU40D is a solid-carbide insert that works equally well in spade blade or indexable insert drills.

"As opposed to supplying individual inserts, the emphasis of this product line is to be complete and address all of a job shop's needs," adds Mike Lawless, global industry manager, general engineering. "For job shops, versatility and simplicity equals competitiveness."
