Sherwin-Williams Launches New Fast Clad™ DTM Waterbased Epoxy

Direct-to-Metal, Single Coat Enables Faster Return to Service and Improved Productivity

(CLEVELAND – June 16, 2003) New from Sherwin-Williams Industrial and Marine Coatings group is Fast Clad™ DTM Waterbased Epoxy, a single-coat, fast dry, direct-to-metal, waterbased epoxy finish that will enable faster return to service and improved productivity. Fast Clad DTM Waterbased Epoxy provides a high film build in one coat of 4 to 6 mils dry film thickness. The new coating exhibits excellent durability and performance properties that are equal to a two-coat, inhibitive primer/waterbased epoxy finish.

Fast Clad DTM Waterbased Epoxy dries fast to a tough gloss finish, while providing excellent corrosion and chemical resistance and superior weathering protection. Applied at 77º F, it dries to the touch in 45 minutes and is dry to handle in four hours. The coating is low odor, meets VOC and HAPS requirements, and cleans up with water. It can be used directly over prepared steel in industrial and marine applications such as structural steel, industrial machinery and equipment, power plants, marine applications, exterior surfaces of steel tanks and rail cars and locomotives, and is suitable for use in USDA-inspected facilities.
